Thai Royal Chariot Sent For Repairs In Preparation For Royal Cremation
The Royal Chariot that will be used in the cremation ceremony of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand has been removed from the Bangkok National Museum, with pieces of the vehicle being sent to the Traditional Arts Office in Nakhon Pathom for repair work.
Built in 1795, the chariot – called Maha Phichai Ratcharot – carries the urn of deceased members of the royal family during the cremation ceremony. It is anticipated the repair work on the chariot will be completed by September.
The late King’s cremation will likely take place before the end of the year. He died on October 13, 2016.
