Duchess of Cambridge Becomes Honorary Member of Royal Photographic Society

The Royal Photographic Society, an organisation devoted to promoting photography, has made the Duchess of Cambridge an honorary life member.

The decision was made after Catherine took several official photographs of her children – Prince George and Princess Charlotte – that were released in 2015 and 2016. Photographs she took during her tour of South East Asia were also released in 2012 by Kensington Palace.

“The Duchess of Cambridge has a long-standing interest in photography and its history. She is the latest in a long line of royal photographers and the Society is pleased to recognise her talent and enthusiasm through honorary membership,” the RPS chief executive Dr Michael Pritchard said to the press.

The RPS has a lengthy relationship with the royal family, beginning in 1854 (a year after is founding) when Queen Victoria and Prince Albert signed on as joint patrons. Its current patron is Queen Elizabeth II.
