Belgium’s Queen Paola Suffers Spinal Fracture
79-year-old Queen Paola of Belgium is currently receiving treatment at the Cliniques universitaires Saint Luc in Brussels after a heavy fall resulted in a spinal fracture.
According the statement released by the Belgian Royal Court, there was no neurological damage as a result of the injury. The Queen’s rehabilitation will take several months. A spokesperson said the injury posed no danger to Queen Paola’s life.
The Queen’s health has had some issues in recent times: last year, she was hospitalised on an undisclosed matter ahead of a scheduled visit to Italy, and it was announced later she had a cardiac arrhythmia which required her to rest for some time.
