British Royal Family Celebrates Christmas at Sandringham

Following tradition, the British Royal Family has attended a Christmas Day service at St Mary Magdalene’s Church in Sandringham, walking to church from Sandringham House. Queen Elizabeth II did not attend the service this year, missing for the first time in almost 30 years, as she recovers from a heavy cold.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall led the family in the walk, which included Prince Harry, the Yorks, Princess Anne and Sir Timothy Laurence, Peter Phillips and his family (Savannah and Isla Phillips made their Christmas service debut), and the Wessex family. The Duke of Edinburgh travelled to church by car.

Meanwhile, the Cambridge family was spending the holidays with the Middletons in Berkshire. Prince George and Princess Charlotte joined their parents for their first Christmas church service, and were seen exiting St Mark’s Church in Englefield with candy canes.
