Queen Maxima’s Working Visit To Germany

At the invitation of the German Minister of Finance, Wolfgang Schaeuble and in her role of Special Advocate of the UN Secretary General for Inclusive Finance for Development, Her Majesty Queen Maxima paid a working visit to Berlin today, Wednesday December 14.

Since December 1st the Federal Republic of Germany took over the presidency of the G20 for one year. The G20 is an international forum for cooperation on financial and economic issues that includes governments and central bank governors from 20 major economies.
Queen Maxima since 2011 is honorary chairman of the Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI), an inclusive platform for all G20 countries.
The Queen had two bilateral meetings: the first one with Minister Schaeuble that was focused on the measures to improve financial inclusion. The second meeting was with Gerd Müller, the German Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development, the meeting focused on Germany’s contribution and leadership role in strengthening financial participation in recent years.


Afterwards a roundtable discussion too place in the presence of the Ministers of Finance and of Economic Cooperation and Development and members of the Deutsche Bundesbank and other institutions. Topic of the discussion was financial inclusion and the G20 agenda.
