Prince Harry’s Tour of the Caribbean: Day Fourteen – Guyana
After two weeks in the Caribbean, Prince Harry has completed his official tour of the region representing the Queen.
Spending his final day in Georgetown, the capital of Guyana, the Prince visited the Joshua House Children’s Centre, meeting with the seventy-plus children that live in the centre due to poverty, neglect or abuse. The children ‘grilled’ him on different facets of being a royal, including asking him what Buckingham Palace was like.
“I don’t spend a lot of time there, sadly. But … the food is delicious,” was his response; before saying that being a Prince came with “lots of privileges…but then with privilege comes a lot of responsibility.” Harry also called his middle names “really boring” once he heard the lengthy names the children bear.
Afterwards, Prince Harry had his final engagement in the Caribbean – a reception hosted by Guyana’s First Lady, Sandra Granger, where he spoke with victims of sexual trafficking and abuse – including girls as young as nine. “They are so young and little. She shouldn’t be a mother yet. She’s so young,” the Prince said to Mrs Granger after speaking with a 12-year-old who is the mother of a six-month-old.
