Prince Harry’s Tour of the Caribbean: Day Nine – Grenada
Despite the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Wave Knight tanker he is travelling on running into some technical issues on the way to Grenada, Prince Harry made it to his fifth destination on Sunday ahead of a series of engagements today.
Beginning with a community sports event at Queens Park Grounds, Harry joined hundreds of locals in sporting workshops, playing cricket and football with them. Alongside Governor-General Dame Cecile La Grenade, they met coaches, volunteers and budding sports stars.
It was then over to Grand Anse Beach to learn about the country’s efforts to rebuild and preserve their ecosystem, particularly from climate change and natural disasters. Coral Restoration Project gardeners told the Prince how they are regrowing the coral reef in the sea surrounding the island.
Prince Harry’s day conclude with a meeting with the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell, before a reception hosted by the Governor-General. During the reception, Harry announced a new scholarship program – Royal Household Hospitality Scholarships – for the nine Caribbean realms, which will see applicants undertake six weeks of training at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle from June 2017.
