Not A Cake One Sees Everyday: Prince Charles Hosts Charity Anniversary
The Prince of Wales, as patron, today hosted a reception at Clarence House for the breast cancer charity Walk the Walk, which is this year celebrating its 20th anniversary.
Charles had the attendees – including Absolutely Fabulous actress Jennifer Saunders and the charity’s founder Nina Barough – in fits of laughter when it came time to cut the celebratory cake, which was decorated with a pink glitter bra in icing. “I’ve never tried cutting a bra before!” the Prince said as he brandished a knife.
He also made a brief speech at the event, praising the charity – which organises groups to walk marathons wearing bras to raise money for breast cancer charities – for their remarkable efforts over the past twenty years: “It is an astonishing achievement to have raised a hundred and thirteen million pounds.”
