Queen Mathilde Visits A Japanese Print Exhibition

Today, Thursday November 17, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde paid a visit to the exhibition “Ukiyo-e. The most beautiful Japanese prints” held at the Cinquantenaire Museum in Brussels. The exhibition was organizied to mark the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Belgium and Japan.

In the exhibition, there are about 416 Japanese masterpieces from the 18th-20th centuries. The prints selected for this exhibition were selected from the collection of the Cinquantenaire Museum that has more than 7,500 copies. There are also prints made on the occasion of the 150 years of friendly relations between Belgium and Japan.

It is the first time since 1989 that these prints are exposed in the Museum. Queen Mathilde toured the exhibition and signed the guestbook. The exhibition was opened on October 21 and will last until February 12, 2017.
