Field of Remembrance Opened in London by Princes Philip and Harry

At Westminster Abbey this morning, the Duke of Edinburgh and Prince Harry officially opened this year’s Field of Remembrance, organised by the British Royal Legion to honour the British servicemen and women who lost their lives fighting for their country.

Both wearing military dress, the two men planted wooden Crosses of Remembrance in the field prior to the sounding of the Last Post and two minutes silence.

Prince Philip and Prince Harry then spent over an hour speaking with veterans and family members, who had all come to remember fallen loved ones or battle comrades. Harry stopped to speak with six-year-old Harrison Degiorgio-Lewis, who proudly showed him the medals of his late uncle, killed in Afghanistan, that were pinned to his chest.
