The Duchess of Cambridge today paid a private visit to the Nelson Trust Women’s Centre in Gloucester, which provides support to women and their families with a focus on mental health, abuse and trauma, and addiction issues.

She heard a number of personal stories from women who have received help from the centre in the past, and how the support made a change in their lives. She also spoke with staff about their roles.

Earlier in the day, Catherine visited HMP Eastwood Park women’s prison, where she learnt about what the prison offers to female prisoners who are suffering from addiction and mental health issues. The prison also works with the Nelson Trust to help the prisoners once they have finished their sentence.
