Dutch State Visit to Australia: Day 4, Sydney

On Thursday November 3, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima started their fourth day of the state visit to Australia with a business meeting along with the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA), an agency that works together with the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and aims to assist companies that want to invest in the Netherlands.

Afterwards the Royal Couple was received by David Hurley, the Governor of the New South Wales, and his wife Linda at Governement House where took place a meeting and the signing of the visitor’s book.

The King and Queen then paid a visit to the University of Sydney, the oldest university of Australia. There, the Royal Couple was welcomed by Belinda Hutchinson and Michael Spence, respectively Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of the University, and met with Australian students studying in the Netherlands and Dutch students currently studying in Australia.

At the University the King and the Queen attended at the launch of the New Holland Scholarship Australia, a program that offers scholarships to students from Australia who would like to study in the Netherlands for a short period.

During the day the Royal Couple was also present at various signing of agreements between Dutch and Australian companies. Later King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima met with the Dutch community living in Sydney at Luna Park, an amusement park situated on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour.

Then the Royal Couple took a ferry to Cockatoo Island where they visited the Farm2Fork Summit, an international summit focused on future innovation in the food and agricultural industries.
