The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have completed their tour of Canada today, farewelling the country with a seaplane tour over Victoria with Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The young royals – particularly George – were more than happy to wave enthusiastically to the crowd which had gathered to catch a final glimpse of the royal visitors, as they waited while their parents thanked Governor-General David Johnston and other dignitaries before they climbed aboard the seaplane.

Kensington Palace released a statement of thanks from Prince William as the family left Canada, in which he said that they “have loved our time in British Columbia and Yukon and will never forget the beautiful places we have seen and the many people who have been kind enough to come to welcome us in person…We feel very lucky to have been able to introduce George and Charlotte to Canada. This country will play a big part in the lives of our children and we have created such happy memories for our family during this visit.”

Earlier in the day, William and Kate had visited the Cridge Centre which provides support services to families and individuals going through tough times; before joining young people from the Sail and Life Training Society and mental health network Jack.org aboard the Pacific Grace tall ship in Victoria Inner Harbour for a sailing lesson.
