Royals Fly To Israel To Honour Late President Shimon Peres At Funeral Service
Dozens of world leaders made the trip to Israel today to attend the funeral service for the country’s late former President, Shimon Peres. Included in the congregation were the Prince of Wales, Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg and King Felipe VI of Spain.
All three men wore traditional yarmulkes during the funeral and burial services at the Mount Herzl National Cemetery in Jerusalem.
President Peres, who won a Nobel Peace Prize for his work on the Oslo Accords agreement which aimed to create peace between Israel and Palestine (but ultimately did not come to fruition), died on September 28 after suffering a stroke at the age of 93.
