Princess Laurentien at the Launch of Reading Project

As Patroness of the Association Unlimited Reading, Her Royal Highness Princess Laurentien was present, yesterday Thursday September 29, at the launch of a special reading project called “Read Feast: All children should be able to read”.  This project aims to promote the reading among blind and visually impaired children.

The event was held at the Visio School in Rottardam, a school that is dedicated in the help of blind and visually impaired students from four to twenty years. This reading project will last until October 14 and various activities are scheduled.

At the beginning of her visit the Princess was informed about the different forms of book reading like audio books, Braille books, books in large print (jumbo books), feel books, books with TV magnifying glass and book via iPad. Then Princess Laurentien read some books to a group of students. She also read some part from one of her self-written books about the adventures of “Mr Finney”.

The visit ended with a meeting at the presence of Princess Laurentien, parents of the students and members of the Visio School and the Association Unlimited Reading.

The project “Read Feast: All children should be able to read” is an initiative of Association Unlimited Reading, and indipendent association that aims to help people with print disabilities.

Since June 2005 Princess Laurentien is Patroness of the Association Unlimited Reading and on March 2009 she was appointed as UNESCO Special Envoy for Literacy.
