The Duchess of Cambridge is set to make her first solo overseas visit on October 11, when she pays a visit to the Netherlands.

Her visit has a focus on art and mental health, with stops in The Hague and Rotterdam. She will begin with a  courtesy visit and have lunch with King Willem-Alexander at Villa Eikenhorst.

It is then over to the ‘At Home in Holland: Vermeer & His Contemporaries from the British Royal Collection’ exhibition at the Mauritshuis Art Museum in The Hague, where she will see pieces loaned to the museum from the Royal Collection. The Duchess will also meet with children who take part in the learning program run by the museum.

Afterwards the Duchess will take part in a roundtable discussion at the residence Britain’s Ambassador to the Netherlands with the Trimbos Institute and two of her patronages, Action on Addiction and the Anne Freud Centre, all of which provide research and support for individuals with addiction and mental health issues.

The last part of the visit will take place in Rotterdam, where Kate will visit a community-focused initiative called Bouwkeet which creates workshops for teenagers in one of the city’s economically deprived areas.

Kate’s first solo overseas trip was meant to be a visit to Malta in September 2014, but was instead undertaken by Prince William due to the Duchess’ second pregnancy.
