The Norwegian town of Kragerø welcomed Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit today as part of the town’s 350th anniversary celebrations.

First it was a stop at the Kragerø Art School, where the Crown Prince Couple were shown the different art methods students use to create pieces – including the latest in modern technology, 3D printing. They were presented with a 3D printed brooch.

A walk through the town then took Haakon and Mette-Marit to the Jens Lauerssøns Square for the official anniversary concert, with local musicians performing a variety of musical genres.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit gave a speech during the concert, recalling Kragerø’s part in Norway’s history as a “shipping and timber nation”, and saying that it is incredibly important to remember the history and contributions of towns and their people when moving into the future.

It was then on to the island of Jomfruland in the Kragerø archipelago, for a walkabout there where the couple learnt about the island and the plans to build a national park.
