Norwegian Crown Princely Family Attend ‘Passion For Ocean’ Festival
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit took their two younger children, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus, to the ‘Passion For Ocean’ festival at the Vippetangen on the port of Oslo.
Several camps were spread out along the Vippetangen with the aim of “raising public awareness of the pleasures the ocean has to offer, and the dangers.” During the visit, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus were shown a number of different sea animals, including starfishes, and learnt about different research being done by marine biologists.
The Crown Prince gave a speech about the importance of taking care of the sea, which was the theme of the festival this year. “The sea is one of Norway’s most important resources, which has given us food and jobs. But even if the sea gives us a good life, we people are not so good at taking care of it. There are many solutions on how the seas can be taken care of – it is probably the reason why many have come here today,” he said, as well as reminiscing about personal memories he and his family have of the ocean.
