Henrik and Athena Join Mum Marie At Tønder Festival

Denmark’s young Prince Henrik and Princess Athena were at their mother’s side as she they visited this year’s Tønder Folk Music Festival in the south of the country. Prince Joachim also joined the family.

After their official welcoming, the royal party headed over to the Open Air Zone, where they took in Irish band Husdon Taylor. Prince Henrik was given a boost by the mayor of Tønder, Henrik Frandsen, who sat him on his shoulders (likewise, four-year-old Athena was atop her father’s).

It then appeared the afternoon sun was getting to the children, as they were treated to a ice-cream before the family continued around the festival.

Princess Marie has been patron of the festival since 2009.
