William and Kate Enjoy Day in Luton
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have spent the day in Luton, north of London, for a day of engagements focusing on young people.
Beginning at Youthscape in Bute Mills, William and Kate met with adolescents who have utilised the organisation’s services to get them through difficult times and spent time learning about support groups for self-harm. The couple also officially opened Youthscape’s new centre, which is also used as a “national hub for innovation in youth work”.
During the stop at Youthscape, the Duchess told children baking treats that every time she attempts baking with three-year-old Prince George it ends in “chaos” because he “makes so much mess”.
It was then on to the Keech Hospice for meetings with patients, families and volunteers at the care centre which has been operating in Luton for 25 years. During one of the discussion, Prince William told a teenager who lost his mother to cancer that “time makes it easier” but he “still misses his mother every day”.
Kate repeated a white and blue poppy LK Bennett dress that was first worn in the 2014 Australian tour.
The final event of the day was a tour of the Hayward Tyler’s new Centre of Excellence.
