A Day in Dundee For Queen Elizabeth and Her Duke
Holyrood Week continued in Dundee today, as Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh paid a visit to the city for a day of engagements.
One of the main parts of the day was the official opening of the Slessor Gardens along the Dundee Waterfront, which are named after Mary Slessor, a missionary born in Aberdeen, but raised in Dundee who spent most of her adult life working in Africa. After the plaque unveiling, the Queen – who was cheerful in a turquoise blue outfit from Stewart Parvin – and the Duke were treated to a performance that involved music and karate.

During a brief meeting with the public before they departed for lunch at the Dundee City Chambers, the Queen was presented with a plastic bag containing toys for Prince George and Princess Charlotte by a member of the public (which has brought about a large number of jokes on social media, including one wondering whether “Will she go in person or send Kate?” to refund the items at B&M).
