Greek President Begins An Official Visit to The Netherlands

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos today started a two-day official visit to The Netherlands along with his wife, Vlasiá Pavlopoulou. Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima welcomed the President and his wife this morning in the courtyard of the Noordeinde Palace in The Hague.

King Willem-Alexander and President Pavlopoulos inspected the guard of honour and then were played the national anthems. After posing for the official photos, an audience took place. Then the King and the Queen hosted a luncheon.

During his speech King Willem-Alexander stressed the importance of the visit and talked about the issues that are currently experiencing the people of Greece, like the persistent economic crisis and the refugee problem.

In the afternoon the Greek President visited the Senate where he met Mrs Ankie Broekers-Knol, President of the Senate and Mrs Ankie Broekers-Knol, Speaker of the House of Representatives. President Pavlopoulos and his wife also paid a visit to the International Court in The Hague. Later this afternoon the Presidential Couple attended a reception held by the Greek community in The Netherlands. In the evening Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte hosted a dinner at his residence.
