The Countess of Wessex Visits British Troops at Allenbrooke Barracks in Germany
The Countess of Wessex was in Paderborn, Germany today as she paid a visit to the 5th Battalion The Rifles, who are leaving the Allenbrooke Barracks and returning to the UK in September.
In a lovely sky blue mid-length dress with a matching hat, Sophie was present for the Battalion’s official farewell parade, inspecting a guard of honour before spending time with the families of the soldiers. She particularly asked whether they were all ready for the move back to the UK.
The Countess also signed Paderborn’s Golden Book, writing “With sadness in our hearts, but eternal gratitude to the people of Paderborn.”
Sophie is the Battalion’s Royal Colonel.
