Formal Dress for Emperor and Empress at Awards Ceremony
Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko attended the 72nd Japan Art Academy Awards Ceremony yesterday in Tokyo. Their Majesties were dressed formally, with the Emperor wearing a black morning suit, grey waistcoat and grey tie, whilst the Empress wore a traditional Kimomo in grey silk fabric with fern-green embroidery.
The Emperor and Empress both take a keen interest in the arts, most notably for music, and regularly request to attend a variety of concerts and exhibitions throughout the year. The Awards Ceremony yesterday is an event that they attend almost every year.
