To the East for HRH The Gyalsey!
As Bhutan said farewell to King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden on Saturday at Paro Airport, another special event was taking place on the other side of the country…
Their Majesties King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema have started a tour in the East of Bhutan, arriving in the small, mountain enclosed town of Gyalpozhing.
Along with the King and Queen came their baby son, His Royal Highness The Gyalsey – much to the delight and excitement of the local students and townsfolk. It seems that the little Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck will be brought up closely amongst the people he will one day be the king of, as this is certainly not the first time he has been amongst the people of Bhutan so closely.
The arrival of the Royal Family came on an auspicious day according to astrology – it being the day, month and year of the Fire Monkey.
During their tour of Eastern Bhutan, Their Majesties and His Royal Highness will visit Lhuentse, the ancestral home of the Wangchuck dynasty.
