Queen Margrethe Inspects Home Guard Officers…Including Daughter-in-Law Mary
The Queen of Denmark today inspected officers from the Home Guard during a parade to conclude their 2016 land exercise in Fredericia.
And among those 4,600 officers was Margrethe’s own daughter-in-law, Crown Princess Mary, who joined the Home Guard in 2008 and is currently a Lieutenant. Queen Margrethe praised the Guard, who are made up of volunteers: “There is a lot of work involved to be a volunteer, and you have to have the heart” she said.
Mary had taken part in the two-day land exercise which included several skill and education courses like shooting and first aid; as well as learning how the other segments of the Home Guard (the Air Guard and the Marine Guard) operate.
