Joined by King Felipe VI, the Queen helped to hand out the awards to 60 laureates that were selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport for the 2014 and 2015 editions of the awards, which aim to promote cultural activities and to express the appreciation of society has for the work of those who contribute to the enrichment of Spain’s cultural heritage.

In a speech closing the presentation, the King said the awards “distinguish and highlight the Spanish cultural heritage that is the product of the intangible talent of our artists and creators…this Spanish genius is essential for the creative engine of our country to continue developing art and consolidating our artistic heritage.”
