Spanish King and Queen Celebrate Armed Forces Day
The King and Queen of Spain today marked Armed Forces Day in Madrid with the traditional military parade by the Joint Battalion at the Plaza de la Lealtad before a reception at the Royal Palace.
After being greeted by the Defence Minister, Pedro Morenes, King Felipe VI laid a wreath in honour of the servicemen and women killed in service to their country. The official party then watched the parade, which included a flyover by the Air Force’s Acrobatic ‘Eagle Patrol’.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia – who wore a striking black and white suit – hosted a reception for the three divisions of the armed forces as well as the civil guard.
