Princess Anne Unveils Restored Bell From Sunken Battlecruiser HMS Hood
The Princess Royal paid a visit to Portsmouth yesterday to official unveil the restored bell from the battlecruiser HMS Hood that was sunk by the Germans during the Second World War.
At midday, Princess Anne, the patron of the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard that will house the bell, struck the bell in front of descendants of the 1,415 crew members who perished during its sinking on May 24, 1941.

Afterwards the Princess then opened a new exhibition at the Museum that marks the centenary of the Battle of Jutland in the First World War, 36 Hours: Jutland 1916, The Battle That Won The War.
The bell was recovered last year from the Denmark Straits between Greenland and Iceland, where it was sunk.
