Countess Alexandra Drops UNICEF Patronage

It has been confirmed today that Countess Alexandra has relinquished her patronage of UNICEF Denmark, which she has held for the past fifteen years.

The organisation published a statement on their website thanking the Countess for her “dedicated efforts” in advocating for the world’s children through her work with UNICEF Denmark.

Alfred Josefsen, the chairman of UNICEF Denmark, spoke with Ekstra Bladet, saying that the decision had been some time coming, that “the situation has indeed changed for her [Countess Alexandra]. She feels she has a different role in society today.”

The news came as a surprise to the public however, considering that Alexandra has been receiving negative publicity in recent months stemming from her still receiving an allowance from the Danish government that was part of her first divorce settlement, and her most recent divorce from second husband Martin Jorgensen (her interview last week with Berlingske Tidende that discussed the divorce could at best be described as ill-advised).

She also was ‘dismissed’ as patron of the Arken Museum for Modern Art in 2014.
