Crown Princess Mary and Princess Mabel were in the audience for the panel, during which Máxima said that “when we invest in women we invest in the whole family, the whole community” before saying how “digital tools create a huge potential” for the empowerment of women, but that “digital literacy is a big barrier” for women in second and third world countries accusing and using mobile phones.
The Dutch Queen was attending in her role as the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance.
Also during the day, Crown Princess Mary – who is patron of the conference – was joined by her husband Frederik for some of the panels, before they wrote on the ‘Women Deliver Wall’.
