Look Back: King Carl XVI Gustaf’s 60th Birthday

While we already took a look at the king’s 40th and 50th birthdays, we still have one to go: his 60th. Fortunately the internet, the online royalty-watching community and TRF were already around in 2006. On saturday 29 April the main celebrations started with a private dinner at Drottningholm Palace.

Since the Swedish king an his family were already inside the palace, there were no pictures of them at this event. Fortunately princess Lilian and the future prince Daniel did walk the red carpet:

Sunday 30 April started with Te Deum in Stockholm’s Palace Church followed by
the Changing of the Guards, choirs a Royal Cortège to the City Hall and a lunch hosted by Sweden’s parlament.

The highlight of the celebrations was the gala dinner in the evening, with uniforms, gowns, jewels and orders:
