We’ve come to the end of April, and in the Netherlands that means one thing: Koningsday! This year the event was held in Zwolle.

Despite the early signs of rain and unpleasant weather, the clouds managed to hold themselves together as the Dutch Royal Family descended on the city for a day of games, entertainment and socialising.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima again brought their three daughters – Catharina-Amalia, Alexia and Ariane – to the event, and the three young Princesses took centre stage as the family listened a number of musical performances before heading over to other areas of the set-up where they participated in some sporting games.

A boat ride took the royals to a second area of the city where more songs were performed, everyone dancing along with the crowd. An abundance of selfies were taken throughout the day.

Queen Maxima went for pink florals for this year’s Koningsdag, wearing a floral full skirt from Natan paired with a bright pink blouse and accessories. A blush pink broad-brimmed hat completed the look.

The three Princesses all wearing individual dresses and matching jackets highlighting their own personal styles.

Princess Laurentien wore a black and white ombre Missoni coat, first seen on Denmark’s Crown Princess Mary in March.

Princess Marlene chose a mint green dress with a thick cream jacket, while both Princess Anne and Princess Aimee went for florals (Annette in deep green and Aimee in pastels).

Princess Anita rounded out the van Vollenhoven Princesses in a blue-grey dress with an embellished neckline.
