‘To Be, Or Not To Be’: Prince Charles Takes The Stage On Shakespeare Anniversary
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall this evening attended a special live performance of playwright William Shakespeare’s works at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon, on the 400th anniversary of his death.
And during the course of the performance, Prince Charles – who is President of the Royal Shakespeare Company – even got on stage himself as part of a sketch performance of the ‘To Be Or Not To Be’ soliloquy from Hamlet. Dame Judi Dench, Sir Ian McKellen and Benedict Cumberbatch were also part of the sketch, while Dame Helen Mirren was involved in other parts of the live show.

After the show, Charles and Camilla went backstage and met with the performers.
Earlier in the day the Prince had visited the city’s Holy Trinity Church, the church in which Shakespeare was baptised and is buried, where he laid a wreath on the writer’s grave.
