King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima Launch The King’s Game

Today, Friday April 22, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima were present at the opening of the King’s Game at the Drostenburg Elementary school in Amsterdam. A school for students with physical disabilities or chronic illnesses.
After having breakfast with the students, The Royal Couple attended a dance performance of a group of children with the song “Hupsakee” made for the event. Then, in the presence of the King and the Queen, a few activities planned for the event took place.

This year, around five thousand primary schools and 1.2 million students attended the King’s Game through the Netherlands. Even the school of the youngest Princesses, Alexia and Ariane are involved in the King’s Game. During a brief interview with nos.nl, The King said that Princess Alexia will be present at the upcoming Koningsdag next Wednesday. Her presence was unsure due to the accident occurred in February when the Princess broke her leg while on winter holiday in the snow in Lech.

The “King Games” are organized by Krajicek Foundation and Cruyff Foundation and took place for the first time in 2013 as part of the inauguration of King Willem-Alexander. They are a sporty initiative for all primary school students in the Netherlands and the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. The purpose of the “King Games” is to promote a healthy and sporting society.
