Norwegian State Visit to Italy Comes To An End
King Harald and Queen Sonja’s state visit to Italy concluded today, focusing on Norwegian business and trade.
The final day was spent in Milan, where they attended a presentation of Norwegian fashion, a business luncheon and visited exhibitions on Norwegian craft and design.
On Thursday, the King and Queen laid a wreath at the grave of the Unknown Soldier at the Altare della Patria (also known as the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II). Later in the day they met with the acting Mayor of Rome, before a reception in the benign hosted by the Norwegian Ambassador.
The Queen kept her outfits on the second and third days simple, sticking to her block colours as she tends to do. A classic black and white combination was the perfect choice for the respectful service on Thursday, while a teal skirt suit brought some life to a sea of business suits.
