Harry Remembers Fallen Gurkha Soldiers on Day Four in Nepal
On his fourth day in Nepal, Prince Harry honoured fallen Gurkha soldiers during a remembrance ceremony at the British Gurkha Camp in Pokhara.
Wearing the number 1 dress of the Blues and Royals, the Prince laid a wreath of poppies during the ceremony which contained a note reading “With the deepest admiration, respect and gratitude. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. Hardik Sradhanjali.” Harry served alongside Gurkha soldiers during his tour of 2008-2009 tour of Afghanistan.
Prince Harry also planted a tree to remember the fallen soldiers, and spoke with Bishnukunr Pun, a Gurkha soldier whom he met at the age of 6.
Earlier in the day he watched the sunrise over Bardia National Park before visiting the village of Gaudia. Harry spent time at the Gauda Secondary School, which was completely destroyed in last year’s earthquake. The Gurkha Welfare Trust is helping to fund the rebuilding of the school.
During his visit to the school, Harry played a game of volleyball with the students before taking part in the traditional Festival of Colour known as Holi. The Prince ended with his face covered in bright red paste made of powder and water.
Prince Harry will finish his visit to Nepal tomorrow back in Kathmandu.
