Frederik and Mary in Qatar

After their three days in Saudi Arabia, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary have continued on to Qatar with the Danish business delegation they are accompanying.

They spent all of Wednesday on joint engagements, visiting the Maersk Oil Qatari headquarters, the Aspire Academy and the Doha Museum of Islamic Art. During their visit to the Aspire Academy, the couple spent much time at the football stadium of the facility, showing off their ‘ball skills’ joined by Danish football legend, Ebbe Sand.

In the evening – following their tour of the art collection, spanning from the seventh to nineteenth centuries, at the museum and a meeting with Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad al-Thani – Frederik and Mary were present at a business dinner where Prince Frederik presented Prince Henrik’s Medal of Honour. For this event, Mary donned a bright, floral silk skirt paired with a black blouse.

Yesterday, the Crown Prince Couple went their seperate ways – Mary to the Qatar Foundation (where she met with Sheikha Hind bint Hamad al-Thani) and the Qatar Academy, Frederik to the Oryx GTL plant. Both of the Crown Princess’s engagements were education-related, and during her visit to the Qatar Academy school, she happily donned a paper crown and a flower necklace given to her by the young students.

The final event of their trip to the Middle East was an audience with the Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. Bilateral relations, the economy and investments were topics of discussion during the meeting.
