Like Mother, Like Daughter

Princess Esmeralda of Belgium shared a lovely photo on twitter of herself embracing her 17 y/o daughter Alexandra Moncada. She accompanied the photo with the text: ‘Happy to spend time with my daughter and having fun during a photo shoot yesterday’.

The princess is a half-sister of King Albert II. Her father was king Léopold III, who married secondly to the Flemish Lilian Baels. The marriage was controversial and their three children did not receive succession rights to the Belgian throne.

Princess Esmeralda lives in London with her husband, the scientist Sir Salvador Moncada. The couple married in 1998 and has two children: a daughter Alexandra (17) and a son Leopoldo (14). Princess Esmeralda works as a j0urnalist and published several books about her father.
