Duchess of Cornwall Indulges In Literacy Passion

The Duchess of Cornwall today indulged in one of her passions, the promotion of literacy, during a visit to Peterborough.

In a bluey-purple and red tartan outfit, the Duchess first stopped at Peterborough Cathedral for a literacy festival celebrating the work of one of her patronages, the National Literacy Trust. Dozens of schoolchildren from the area were present for a storytelling workshop before Camilla presented a number of awards.

Camilla then headed over to Boots Opticians, where she was told about how the organisation works with the Trust to improve eye health in disadvantaged children to benefit their literacy skills.

Will at the store, the Duchess – who is always one to quickly and enthusiastically try things at her engagements – donned a pair of glasses that are used to detect vision problems in children. The green spectacles with little frogs on top were the perfect match for the Duchess’s personality.

Her last stop in Peterborough was a reception for volunteers and supporters of the Trust.
