Danish Royals Attend First New Year’s Court of 2016
The Danish Royal Family have tonight attended the first New Year’s Court at Amalienborg Palace.
Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik hosted a gala banquet for members of government, members of the court and members of the Order of the Elephant. The Crown Prince Couple and Prince Joachim and Princess Marie were present, each wearing the collar of the order signifying the formality of the occasion.

The Queen recycled a pale blue gown she first wore in March 2015, paired with the pearl and diamond parure and a fur stole.
Crown Princess Mary also recycled par of her outfit, reusing the midnight blue beaded skirt from her Jasper Hovring gown worn to the 2014 Bambi Awards this time with a dark blue velvet top that flowed down into a train. As per usual, Mary wore pieces of the ruby and diamond parure that belonged to Queen Ingrid.
Princess Marie stuck to her signature evening style – light colours and lace – donning a new white gown with an embroidered lace top and her diamond wedding tiara.
Further Courts will take place on January 5 and 6.
