Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko On Brazilian Visit
Prince and Princess Akishino of Japan have begun a ten-day official visit to Brazil, to mark 120 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The couple arrived in São Paulo earlier this morning; their first visit was to Ibirapuera Park where they laid a wreath at the Monument to Japanese Immigration Pioneers and planted a commemorative tree.
During their visit, Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko will be visiting ten cities across the country and will meet with President Dilma Rousseff.
Around 1.5million people of Japanese descent reside in Brazil, making it one of the largest Japanese communities outside of the nation.
