Felipe and Letizia Attend The Princess of Asturias Award 2015 – Day 2

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia attended a meeting with the juries and the members of the Princess of Asturias Awards, Foundation Boards of Trustees and the winners of the 2014 Thesis, University of Oviedo awards. The royal couple also met with the winners of the Medal of Asturias 2015, they congratulated them on their win.

In the evening, Kind Felipe, Queen Letizia and Queen Sofia attended the 2015 Princess of Asturias awards ceremony held in Oviedo. The event started with King Felipe giving a short speech, he said “The vast majority of us want a world with a dignified life for all and where solidarity is the norm. We follow the example of those, such as our awards winners, who raise their voices with courage and responsibility to protect the weakest, the least favored and the most vulnerable.”

Eight winners won the awards this year, they all received 50,000 euros, a certificate and a statuette by artist Joan Miro from King Felipe. Around 1,500 people were invited to the event including Queen Letizia’s mother.
