Belgian State Visit To Poland: Day One

On Tuesday, 13 October, His Majesty King Philippe and Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of the Belgians started a three-day State Visit to Poland.

The Royal Couple arrived in Warsaw around 10 o’clock. They attended an official welcome ceremony in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace in the presence of the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, and his wife, Agata Kornhauser-Duda. After the inspection of the guards and the playing of the national anthems, the King and Queen had a meeting inside the Palace with the Presidential Couple, followed by a press conference held by King Philippe and President Duda.

Later, The King and Queen paid a visit to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, where they laid a wreath and signed the guest book.

In the early afternoon, King Philippe visited the Senate where he met the Speaker Malgorzata Kidawa-Blonska. Then he went to the Warsaw Spire, a complex of Neomodern office buildings under construction by a Belgian real estate developer and participated in the seminar “Innovation in Life Sciences” at the Palace of Science and Technology. In late afternoon, at the Belgian Embassy, they signed a few agreements between businesses and scientific institutions of both countries.

In the meantime, Queen Mathilde visited the Fryderyk Chopin Museum along with Mrs Agata Kornhauser-Duda.

The first day of the visit ended with a State Banquet held by President Duda at the Presidential Palace in honor of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde.
