Princess Marie Visits Japanese Flower Art Exhibition
Danish Princess Marie tonight attended the opening of the Ikebana International Copenhagen Chapter’s 50th anniversary exhibition at the Tokai University European Center in Vedbæk.
The exhibition showcased the Ikebana craft – the art of arranging flowers in a minimalistic fashion that highlights their shape, line, form and colour. The craft follows on the Japanese love and appreciation of nature, “by creating a link between the indoors and the outdoors”.
For the event, Marie – who according to Billed Bladet had shown an interest in Ikebana after she had seen the art elsewhere – donned simple black trousers and a white blouse with a black and brown floral print.
Countess Sussie af Rosenborg, the wife of Queen Margrethe’s cousin Ingolf, was also present.
