King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima at “China In The Netherlands” Meeting
In preparation for their upcoming State Visit to the People’s Republic of China, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Maxima attended today, Thursday October 1st, the meeting “China in The Netherlands” organized by the University of Leiden where the event took place.
At their arrival at the University, the Royal Couple were welcomed by Carel Stolker, Rector Magnificus and President of the Executive Board of the University, and Frank Pieke, Professor of Modern China Studies. The meeting started with five introductions by experts of the Chinese world about Chinese tourism to The Netherlands, young Chinese entrepreneurs and varioues other topics.
The King and Queen had the chance to exchange opinions with representatives from business, science, the cultural sector and the media that are involved in the cooperation between China and The Netherlands.
The University of Leiden is the only University in The Netherlands that offers the opportunity to study the Chinese language and culture in the course of Chinese Studies.
The Dutch State Visit to the People’s Republic of China will take place in the last week of October.
