Prince Harry Joins Walk of Britain Trek in Shropshire

Having a long-standing relationship with Walking with the Wounded, Prince Harry today made good on his promise to join the charity’s latest expedition, a 1,000mile trek across the UK, for a portion of the walk. The Prince took part in the 17mile stretch from Church Stretton to Ludlow in Shropshire.

Harry trekked alongside six wounded veterans, four British and two American. They stopped at Stokesay Castle, where the Prince spent some time with local children.

Speaking to the media, he praised the locals who had come out to support the trek along their route so far – “The support has been amazing. People come out to give money and then when they hear what it’s for they put another £20 in,” Harry said.

He also spoke of his commitment to helping wounded veterans, saying that he “loves spending time with these guys” and that “the main focus, from my point of view, for the rest of my life anyway is to make sure they get the best support possible because I know, and more people are starting to see, how valuable they are within society.”

The Walk of Britain trek started on August 22 in Inverness, Scotland and will finish at Buckingham Palace on November 1.
