Princess Catharina-Amalia Begins High School
The Princess of Orange today had her first day of high school, and the Dutch Royal Court released a photograph and video of the 11-year-old to mark the occasion.
Catharina-Amalia is seen riding a bicycle with a large pink box attached to the front, waving to the camera – behind which her father, King Willem-Alexander, stands – in the garden of their home, Villa Eikenhorst.
The Princess will be attending Sorghvliet, a Christian gymnasium in The Hague. The school was selected after Amalia and her parents made introductory tours earlier this year to a number of secondary schools in the area.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima also requested privacy for their eldest daughter as she embarks on the next stage of her education, stating, “The Princess, like others her age, has a right to an undisturbed youth. Precisely because a large part of her future life will involve public duties, it is important that her privacy is respected.”
