President Mukherjee Says Goodbye to Sweden
On the final day of his visit to Sweden, President Mukherjee of India spent time at Karolinska Institute and visited Uppsala.
The President was first shown around the Nobel Forum at the Institute, where researchers and scientists can work together and discuss ideas. Anders Hamsten, the Vice-Chancellor of the Karolinska Institute, informed President Mukherjee of the current research projects that are being worked on.
Later on, King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel all joined the President for round-table discussions and two seminars entitled Innovate, Make and Grow with India and India-Sweden Partnership – Co-Creating a Brighter Future at the Grand Hotel.
Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel then went with President Mukherjee to Uppsala, where the President delivered a speech at Uppsala University. He spoke of the first Indian to win a Noble Prize, Rabindranath Tagore, and Mahtma Ghandi and how their work may influence world peace in the future. On their way to Uppsala, the cortege the official party were riding in was involved in a collision, however neither the President nor the Crown Princess Couple were directly involved or injured.
