Farmor Margrethe Visits Prince Nikolai at Boarding School
The Queen of Denmark paid a visit to the Herlufsholm School in Næstved today, to celebrate the school’s 450th anniversary.
Queen Margrethe first attended a service at the school’s church, before unveiling a new sculpture by Eva Steen Kristensen in the Nyhave that was donated by the New Carlsberg Foundation to make the anniversary. Ms Kristensen said that she was inspired by the ‘willingness’ of the students and the architecture of the school itself when designing the sculpture. She also inaugurated the new Red Square, with a launch of 450 red balloons, that was been designed by Bertel Bruun.
Her eldest grandson, Prince Nikolai, is a pupil at the school and attended the church service alongside his classmates.
